When we were looking for a specialist who would be able to restore our chest that we inherited from my grandmother, we were fortunate to have been put in contact with Rafael Haroch.

The chest, dating back to 18???, belonged to my grandmothers’ family for several generations. It is the center piece of our house, and we were initially reluctant to trust it to somebody for restoration, even though we knew that it desperately needed work as the inlaid wood started to split.

When we visited Rafael in his studio, our reluctance disappeared, as we realized that he treated all objects that were trusted to him, as they were his own. And we were not disappointed during the whole process – from the people who came to pick up the chest, to the very end, when it was back in our house.

Restored to its original beauty, Rafael investigated the origin of the chest and offered different solutions to replace the hardware to its original form. He and his team have been extraordinary in their carefulness.
