Marble Figure
The figure was damaged by falling forward, leaving it broken and cracked. When marble breaks, the crystals in the break lines expand, because they're under intense compression. We needed to work very carefully and remove every little piece that seemed loose. It's better to replace them, to ensure the figure sits properly when it’s complete. In this restoration, we used rubber bands to hold the pieces together in the right position as we went, letting it sit for a few days to harden properly. From there we replaced the missing material, and completed a color and finish touch up, to ensure the new material has the same hue as the original marble.
