This unusual Bertoia piece has a balance element to it, almost like a scale. A whole ceiling section fell on it and broke and bent almost every piece of metal, damaging the base and weights. Once metal is bent, the bent area becomes hard. We needed to be very precise in how we pulled it back into position. Then it took hours of tweaking so the piece could stand correctly, with the weights balanced and no tilt. Once all the parts were together and we finished touching it up, there was still a lot of additional work, including playing with the weights and the tilt, and a whole host of little factors needed to restore the balance.
