TeCHNIQUES
STABIlization, base design and fabrication

This piece arrived as a bunch of loose panels, likely part of a larger structure. The wood was crumbling and cracked, and we needed to determine how it would be displayed to figure out the best way to restore it. We settled on creating a base for the piece. First, we designed and fabricated it from solid wood to match the panels, and then put the panels in place into the base. We left one area untouched where a big piece was missing to be able to show the whole carving. After we found the right location for each panel, we worked on the connections between them to create one cohesive unit.
